The Future Forest Initiative promotes planetary health with the forest at the centre of our actions. To this end, we rely on innovation and alliances between the forestry sector, start-ups and companies. On this page, we show the areas in which we are specifically driving innovation.

Fields of action
Our innovations counter climate change, species loss and economic change in two areas: they stabilise existing forests and establish regenerative silviculture systems - for sustainable forest management.
Lever 1: Stabilisation
On the one hand, we are stabilising our commercial forests by supporting solutions for better management of bark beetle or storm calamities or forest fires, for example. Tools for better management of our forests based on digitalisation, robotics or biologisation are also addressed here.
Lever 2: Regeneration
On the other hand, we are actively promoting the regeneration of our forests - through innovative approaches that not only preserve forests, but also sustainably improve their resilience and ecological functions. This includes new value chains in the context of ecosystem services or bioeconomy, which enable climate-adapted and regenerative silviculture systems.

Unser nächstes exklusives Event für die Future Forest Community fand Anfang Mai in Blankenburg statt. Dabei wurden neben diversen Möglichkeiten zum Netzwerken auch eine Wanderung ins Harzgebirge geboten.

Schlüsseltechnologien eröffnen Handlungsoptionen für eine klima-smarte Waldwirtschaft.
Durch die Entwicklung neuer Werkzeuge für Waldbewirtschafter erhöhen wir Nachhaltigkeit, Flexibilität und Effizienz der Waldwirtschaft.
Ecosystem Services
Wälder erbringen vielfältige Ökosystemleistungen für Gesellschaft und Wirtschaft.
Durch die Entwicklung von Werkzeugen zur Honorierung dieser Leistungen schaffen wir neue Wertschöpfung für Waldbewirtschafter.

Zur Erreichung unserer Klimaziele unterstützen wir technische und natürliche Lösungen aus dem Kontext Wald und AgroForst, die auf Kohlenstoff-Kompensation, Klimaneutralität oder zirkuläre Bioökonomie abzielen.
